A film crew is in Southeast Asia filming a Vietnam-war memoir. It’s early in the shooting, but they’re already behind schedule and over budget. On the day an accident befalls the novice director, the cast and crew are attacked by a gang of poppy-growing local drug dealers, except the cast and crew don’t realize these aren’t actors who are stalking them. The thugs kidnap Tugg Speedman, an actor whose star seems on the decline, and it’s up to the rest of the ragtag team to band together long enough to attempt his rescue. But will Tugg want to leave?

Film Review

Seriously. This could be one of the worst "comedies" ever. So much talent in this movie. It should have worked. Had they even done a by the numbers slapstick fishes out of water story it STILL could have worked. Why? Why? Lemme tell you,I'm not a movie snob. I'll watch Just about. Anything for a cheap laugh. This couldn't even provide THAT. Jeezus this is a bad movie. Where to start? Stiller, OK, he is hit and miss in general. I've accepted that like a lot of edgy comics like himself settle down eventually and go for " nice guy" funny Ala' Adam Sandler. Stiller just wasn't funny in this at all. He's surrounded by an even less funnier cast of Robert Downey Jr ( whom I usually love) ,Jack Black ( genus to me) and a few other unfunny characters. With the exception of Steve Coogan was actually the funniest character in the movie but dies 10 min into it. I can't help but think he could have saves this movie. The RDJ character is b…

When Ben Stiller writes and makes his own stuff it works out well, Zoolander being a prime example. When he works as an actor for hire the results are far more patchy.Thankfully a couple years ago Stiller had a brainwave that he managed to turn into Tropic Thunder, and while it isn't quite at the level of Zoolander it holds up very well.Stiller's directing style is quite odd, his films tend to be almost overstuffed with peripheral characters and short scenes that don't seem to move the plot forward that much, thankfully to date this has not clogged his films up too much, but it might be more noticeable in less funny films. In Zoolander Stiller poked fun at celebrity, the public's obsession with appearances, how clueless the people in front of the camera were, and how easy they were to manipulate. Tropic Thunder might seem like a very different film but in essence it is basically poking fun at actors, how clueless and self absorbed they actually are, and how easily t…

I can't even tell you if this movie was funny, it was so painfully boring I lost interest. I could not even make it through the entire film. It was basically morons walking through the woods arguing with each other, over which one was more stupid. There were a few moments of smile inducing comedy, but I never once laughed out loud. Jack Black going through detox was kinda funny at times, but this movie was not very good.I usually like Ben Stiller, heck I liked Zoolander. But this movie was just too lame to keep me interested. It lost me about the time the director blew up, and Stiller's character was too stupid to realize it was real, and basically started drinking the brain out of the severed head, to prove it was fake….at that point I was losing hope the movie was going to get better…..Sadly, the next 30 minutes of the movie….nothing happens that is of any interest or comedy…it did not get better, it got nothing….not better or worse, it just goes nowhere fast…Th…
